a million lifetimes
In this endless cycle, my heart is bound, To love a girl with fate profound. Cursed is she, to rise anew, Each death a door, she passes through. I, too, am cursed, never to die, Doomed to watch the stars go by. Each time she's born, my love takes flight, A phoenix's blaze, burning bright. But oh, the agony, the wrenching pain, When death's cold hand claims her again. I'm torn apart, piece by piece, As she slips away, and my tears increase. Love's sweet torment, an eternal flame, For her, I fall, again and again. A love so deep, it defies the grave, In every life, it's her I crave. Yet knowing each end is just the start, Of a fresh cycle, a new heart's dart. I brace for joy, and for despair, In this immortal love affair. For every hello bears the weight, Of an impending, cruel fate. I'm captive to this bittersweet curse, A love that's both gift and hearse.
