A Love I Once Knew

Yes, I did believe in love, Once, I held it close enough. I gave it all, my soul, my light, But even stars can lose their fight. Things changed, the skies grew dark, What once was fire became a spark. I broke in silence, past my limit, A heart in shards with nothing in it. Yet in the rubble, dim and small, A light still flickered through it all. One soul remained, one final chance, To pull me from this haunted dance. But fate had other plans, it seems, She walked away, and so did dreams. Not anger, not hate she just didn't feel, What I still clung to, what was real. Now life is different, sharp and wide, No tears to cry, no place to hide. I no longer die I've simply gone, A ghost that breathes, but love is done. Nothing can save what’s lost in me, Not even hope, not destiny. It's not despair it's just the truth, A broken soul, beyond its youth.
