A long drag...
Life’s a long drag, smoke fills my chest, It burns, it aches, but I never rest. I hold it in, though it cuts so deep, Till lungs grow weak and can’t but keep. Dizzy and lost, I chase the flame, The hurt I crave, the silent blame. Trapped in a room I filled with pain, A smoky cage I made in vain. Then one day, I open the air, The windows wide, breathe fresh and fair. At last, the weight begins to fall, I’m free to breathe — and free from all.
