A Letter To My Almost
My heart screamed as if torn open Felt like it was bleeding out Because I can't pretend we're something When all we are is a doubt I watched the love I held so tight Slip slowly out of sight I wanted to give you everything But somehow it just didn't feel right I thought you were someone special Worthy all I had to give Yet, a whisper warned me , deep inside The part of me that wanted to live Then came the day you chose him A truth I tried to bear I kept my silence, let it slide Pretending I didn't care My heart still aches for you tonight Bit it's pleading for release My mind, worn out from thinking of you Wants quiet, wants some peace And I remember his voice Saying not to forget you yet, The same that you entertained before The one who swore you were a perfect bet Even Bro'nem thought we'd burn so bright But my gut, it knows the truth And though I've doubted for you alone It has kept me safe , my proof So here I am, with love unspent And faith that was misplaced Letting go, as hard as it is For freedom, for my own space
