A lament of the lost
I wander through the barren land Where once I had a home and friends But now I see only dust and bones And memories that never end I hear the echoes of their screams The fire that consumed their flesh The bombs that tore apart their dreams And left me here alone and wretched I feel the pain of every wound The scars that mark my broken soul The guilt that weighs me like a shroud And makes me wish I was not whole I taste the bitterness of loss The salt of tears that never dry The ashes of what once was mine And all that I could not defy I smell the stench of death and rot The blood that stains the earth and air The smoke that clouds my every thought And fills me with despair I am a shadow of myself A ghost that haunts this cursed place A lament of the lost and damned And a witness of disgrace
