A Journey's Paradox
A Journey's Paradox by Jack A.S. Dunce I charted every point, precise to fault, Relying on the stars to keep me true, And prayed that fortune bless my offered salt, With fingers crossed, I sallied forth anew. The rolling whitecaps still controlled the seas; The storm's trough lingered even though it passed. Although repaired, the ship's hull creaked unease. It held, but every heave could be its last. In time, the roaring seas did mellow down; The voyage seemed to be well on its way. But still, I woke to find my ship aground; The groaning hull had leaked through patched inlays. I sailed the many leagues with specious deft, Yet here I am, as if I never left. ©️pgmr 11/20/2024
