A Joke to Her
I laid my heart bare, with words unspoken, A love so deep, yet she took it as token. In her eyes, I saw no flame, no spark, Just shadows of laughter, a cruel remark. My feelings, sincere, were met with disdain, She played with my heart, like it was a game. Every word, every glance, just a jest, In her world, my love was merely a test. I dreamt of us, walking hand in hand, But to her, I was just another strand, In a web of illusions, tangled and tight, While I longed for her, she laughed at my plight. Her smile, so sweet, held a bitter sting, Every "I love you" felt like nothing. I was a fool, wrapped in her deceit, While she watched my love fall at her feet. Yet, here I stand, with a heart that’s broke, Realizing now, my love was just a joke. But even in pain, I find a trace, Of hope that one day, I’ll leave this place. Where love is true, and hearts are kind, Where I’m not just a joke, but a love she’ll find. Until then, I’ll gather the pieces of me, And cherish the love she could never see.
