you’re born screaming because your body knows before your brain does that this world isn’t gentle people smile and call it a blessing but no one asks if you wanted to be here you grow up fast not because you’re strong but because nobody waits for you you learn rules before joy obedience before honesty school teaches you how to be watched how to be measured how to be less drama isn’t petty it’s your first taste of loss friends turning on you names sticking moments replaying at 3am for years you love someone not carefully not smart you bleed into them thinking that’s what love is and when they leave they take parts of you you don’t get back heartbreak doesn’t end it settles changes your posture your tone the way you trust adulthood hits and no one explains it you’re just expected to cope work pay survive repeat while pretending this is a life you become responsible for others while still falling apart yourself holding a child or a role or a promise hoping they never see how cracked you are time doesn’t heal it layers regret on regret waste on waste but no enough space
