A Home for the Heart
The vulnerability of an unguarded heart Given with cautiousness, trusting it will be encapsulated in a shell of safety. If you choose to set my heart down, amidst the plating that offers protection, please place it gently— not pushed further, not dragged, just laid in a place of safety. For the burden of the drag, its friction deepens the pain. So lay my heart softly, in a cushion of roses, shielded by layers of shell, where it may rest unharmed.
