A GIRL LIKE ME
Void, numb, a tempest unseen, Emotions collide, a nameless, raw scene. Happiness, a fleeting, elusive gleam, Forever chased, a forgotten dream. Uncertainty's shadow, immaturity's hold, A child-heart forced, by trauma, to grow old. Love's embrace, a distant, foreign shore, Incapable of giving, difficult to adore. The mirror splintered, a billion-shard array, Striving to mend, but fragments still stray. Perceived as toxic, a label unjust, Misunderstood wholly, by all, without trust. Trusting serpents, a path I have trod, Betrayed by whispers, and deemed the bad god. Broken, unseen, in a world full of lies, Undiagnosed whispers, behind my tired eyes. A world overflowing, yet hollow within, Longing for solace, a release from this din. Held back by damnation, from death's dark embrace, A body desired, by all, save my own grace. Scars tell a story, of insecurity's plight, Some days they haunt me, some days, bathed in light. A girl like me, a paradox deep, A soul yearning solace, secrets to keep.
