A Fire I Can’t Hide
The more I try, the worse it becomes. It feels like a crime to enjoy even the smallest moment with you. I wish I never let it begin, but now there is nothing I can do. Seeing you with someone else crushes my soul. I wish I could tell you how I feel, but I’m too afraid to let you know. Maybe you wouldn’t understand. I’m not the kind of guy you would choose. And I’m sorry for ever acting like you might choose someone like me. I’m sorry for letting myself fall into this trap. I wish I could escape it, but it feels too late. I keep trying to hide it, telling myself I can handle it. But the truth is it hurts from deep within. For so long I’ve been deceiving myself. Now I can’t hold it anymore. It burns inside my chest, spreading like wildfire. How do I stop something that refuses to die? I tried to let it go, but it feels impossible. I cover it with smiles, but in my heart there’s a quiet pool of tears. Do I need to tell you how I feel about you? Do I need to let you know how much of you I can never seem to get enough of? I tried to hold it back countless times… but my heart just won’t let me.
