A Final Glimpse
In this lonely room, where silence reigns the night, I sit and ponder memories, now distant, out of sight. The friend of childhood, in whose light I grew, Together we shared dreams, though unaware they flew. She shone the brightest, a beacon among all, Yet in my youth, I heeded not love’s call. Often harsh were my words, my actions small, Still, she remained beside me, through rise and fall. But time, relentless, drew us far apart, No words exchanged, no whisper of the heart. The years have passed, and distance charts its course, Yet the void she left, life cannot endorse. Now, in the quietude of the night’s embrace, I wonder if I’ll ever see her face. She was my first affection, though young and unaware, And that tender feeling, time could not impair. My wish is simple, as the years unfold, To see her once, as the story is retold. To know how she’s grown, what life’s path she’s tread, But fate’s design remains unread. I turn to the heavens with a whispered plea, Will I meet her again, or is this longing the key? To hold in memory what once was dear, Yet all I ask is one last chance, to see her near.
