A Familiar Face
I stepped into the unknown, a tiny soul, A maze of faces, a jigsaw whole. The classroom buzzed, a hive of delight, But I, a lost lamb, searched for a familiar light. My mother's gentle hands, a guiding shore, Released me to the tide, and I was swept once more. Into a sea of strangers, I scanned the crowd, Yearning for her smile, my heart's proud. The room began to empty, parents departed fast, Leaving their little ones to face the unknown at last. But I, a searching heart, scanned the space, Till I saw her standing, a steady, loving face. Behind the window's veil, she watched me with care, A reassuring presence, beyond the unfamiliar air. Our eyes met, and I crumbled, tears like summer rain, For in that moment, I felt the ache of love and pain.
