A Daughter's Grief
Oh Dad, when I think of you, my eyes grow wet, Each tear a token of longing, of regret. Why did you leave us, why so soon? Our hearts ache beneath the empty moon. Do you ever wish for those days of old, With your wife and kids, stories untold? I wish I could go back, hold you tight, Whisper, “I love you—stay, don't take flight.” This void you left is a wound so deep, Day and night, for you, we weep. We waited for your steps at the door, Hoping you'd return, like before. We never expressed enough, it's true, But every moment, Dad, was love for you. Through bitter days, you stood so tall, Our rock, our hero, who gave it all. You gave us life, every sacrifice unseen, Faced every storm with a heart serene. With a smile, you hid your pain inside, And gave us a life full of pride. Oh Dad, we are indebted to your care, Your love, your strength, always there. If only I could have one last chance, To tell you how much your presence enchants. Please come back, if only in dreams, To mend the ache, the silent screams. One last time, Dad, just one embrace, For in my heart, you hold a sacred place.
