A Confession of Broken Glass
I'm a god-damned liar, it's what I am, I learned to lie just to keep calm. I want to tell you how I feel, but the fear I carry is too real. My mind says, "You'll just ruin the peace," so my true voice finds no release. I'm held by trauma, pain, and dread, by all the fears inside my head. I fear that if I speak the truth, you'll turn and run, and find your proof. But in my lies, I make it true, I give you a reason to leave too. I'm scared you’ll see the scars I hide, and see the damage deep inside. I can’t accept myself this way, so how can you accept me today? My wounds are open, raw, and deep, a broken past I cannot keep from bleeding out and making us a victim of this painful fuss.
