A child's Lament
The ones meant to love, protect, and guide, Sometimes are the ones who wound, who lied. How do you spread my flaws, my mistakes, All around, for whos’s sakes? Is it wrong to err, to falter, to fall? Don’t we all learn, rise, and stand tall? Yet here I stand, my spirit torn and scarred, By words from you, my life forever marred. Your tongue, a blade, cuts deep, Don’t you see what your words can do? You wonder why my joy has faded, But I died long ago, by you, betrayed. Old enough, you knew what you wrought, Yet blind you came, too late you fought. Sorry I’m not what you wish to see, For truth travels fast, through lies set free. Your role, to be a rock, a guide, Yet you chose to wound, to cast aside. So here I am, a shadow of the past, Your words, your deeds, forever cast. Remember, young and old, A tongue can kill, a heart can mold. If one day I’m not who I used to be, Know it was you who did this to me.
