Everything is dark, the sun has yet to rise, and the moon no longer shines through my window. Darkness consumes me, and loneliness takes hold of me. I’ve waited weeks for her, but she hasn’t come— that rose who once captivated my inspiration, who showed me beauty, and whose thorns I gently removed so she wouldn't hurt herself... hurting myself for her. I look at my scars and I remember her. I used to be happy when that rose was here. She left, and with time, she took the sun and the moon away. The days go by, and I drown deeper in thought. My heart tells me to wait, my pride tells me to let go, and my mind has shut down... it no longer responds. I wander in the darkness without fear, just walking endlessly. I’m not trying to get anywhere, but my feet keep moving, venturing deeper and deeper into that empty, lonely, dark room where no light ever reaches. My thoughts confuse me, and my hands want to send me a message by writing poetry without knowing what they want to say. I fell in love with that rose who is no longer here. But I heard her say I should wait. I don’t know where I’m going, but I keep walking blindly. And we’ll see what tomorrow brings.
