2. Memory Lane
(Rhymes and Reasons Collection) By Trevor Goforth The ring is hanging on the wall, In my heart there is nothing left at all. You used to make me sing and fly, Now all I do is cry. Now the broken wing of angel who can only cry. This is me saying sorry for all the hard times, Sometimes life has no rhythm or rhyme. That look in your eye, Standing there as I said goodbye. You left flowers at my door, My heart is locked forever more. When did our words start to cut like a knife? When did the summer love turn into a cold December night? Going down memory lane, There were good times but a whole lot of pain. After years apart maybe we can get together, We'll ask how's the family and talk about the weather. These days I'm not sleeping well, Life without our love is a living hell. Dreaming of when summer nights went on forever, Now only cold wind blows winter weather. It's too late to apologize, Sometimes you can't fight the rising tides. Love just gets swept out to sea. No message in a bottle to find, Maybe one day we'll swallow our pride. Sometimes it's better to go our separate ways, My mind and heart can only travel down memory lane to better days. ©Trevor Goforth 2025
