2-4: Lost Signal
I had just gotten home, slipping off worn shoes, when I heard a scream from my room. Rushing over I soon discovered that it was my phone informing me of a notification regarding you. . . It shouted - "There is an event coming up!" "Start preparing for the day!" In the moment, I forgot myself, lost in a flurry of emotions; muscles twitching, mind racing, heart beat increasing, blood flowing, all in an effort to conjure a gift for you. . . So yes, I'll have you know that I did remember and I did think about your birthday. But, I've learned that sometimes thoughts don't count; the shipment is late and the ships have already drawn up their anchors and cast their sails. So, within an empty harbor I stand on a foundation of my memories, exchanging gifts with the whispers of the wind, listening to the vibration of my phone fade into the distance.
