1969
This year, this fall, it all comes back. When Viet Nam was in war-torn strife, Before cocaine was used as "crack;" My senior year of high school life. Because the Cold War was going strong, We thought there might be a nuke attack. Big John had released a protest song, So we all were singing, "The Man in Black." But I was really dumb back then: Thought everyone was just honest folks, That my dad was trying to lock me in, And life was some sick teenage hoax. I don't know how I made it through As I stop to think about that time, Yet, when I see my life in review, I'm glad I escaped nineteen sixty-nine. I know there are trials in each generation And the owners always manage to survive. Each era brings its own goals and aspirations, And, somehow, we learn to live and thrive.
