As you stripped your hand from mine You stripped the poet out of me It didn't sting, and I didn't heave It wasn't sudden or marked with a jolt Rather, it glided out of my lungs And rolled out of my tear ducts Only in my sleep All that is left is a faint buzzing A lingering fog Clouding my nerves And the outskirts of my vision Now, I only stutter and choke My stanzas a bore Your belongings hidden under floorboards You once slept beside me I watched your eyelids twitch You used this very blanket Only now, it's lined with my tears I can't go on I'll just end this here
