1 Year Less
My birthday once brought such glee, Full of joy and excitement, to me. presents and cake and singing songs, The day my life forever long. But years go by in the blink of an eye, The numbers grow, the time does fly. Though three more days until I turn, Happiness I can no longer yearn. Each year just means my life's now shorter, The days less, the end grows closer. My years of life can now be counted, As at each birthday, time's now robbed and mounted. The years keep passing, time keeps marching on, Soon my life will be nearly gone. Though I cherished each birthday before, Now at each one, I can only mourn and gore. We celebrate another year it seems, Yet death with silent steps now teems. We sing the songs and wishes I receive, But dying I know, with each year I leave. The joy of birthdays now leaves me quite sad, As the grim reaper looms, more life I've had. Each gift a reminder, of time now lost, Happiness stolen, at too high a cost. The years keep coming but purpose now escapes, As at life's cruel game of chance, fate now rapes. For birthdays once brought joy and cheer so dear, But now they bring only wasted seconds and tears.
